Take a drive with the Red Rocker!May 20, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This album does not make a big world peace statement, thank God!! This album just flat out rocks. Take a ride with Sammy on "I Can't Drive 55" which is a must have for your rock collection.
A must have for any Sammy Hagar fan!July 27, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
VOA is a high-octane song. Don't make me wait too long is a very moving song. I can't drive 55 is a must for any serious rock collector. Rock is in my blood is true Hagar rock. The blistering energy on this CD is amazing just like the Van Halen album, 5150, and will go down in history as 1 of Sammy Hagar's best albums of all time.
Another great CD by Sammy!!June 15, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the third album in the Geffen trilogy of platinum albums that put Sammy into true rockstar status. "I can't Drive 55" and "Two Sides of Love" are the most popular songs here, but "Swept Away" is a great tune!! This music is all Sammy, and while possibly the weakest (if you can even call it that!) in the Trilogy, it stands by itself as a fantastic album. I strongly recommend this one, but don't miss "Standing Hampton" and "Three Lock Box" while you're at it. This music truely withstands the test of time and will make you happy!!
Great CD From A Great Artist/Human BeingJanuary 28, 2008 The Footpath Cowboy(Kingston, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
VOA is Sammy Hagar's seventh great solo album in a row from his Capitol and Geffen years combined, and it's great to see it finally get the deluxe reissue treatment it deserves. It's unfortunate that STANDING HAMPTON and THREE LOCK BOX haven't gotten similar treatment, but that's probably because they're still in print, whereas this one went out of print a few years ago. Fortunately, the good folks at American Beat Records saw fit to reissue VOA, restoring it to Hagar's catalog. Hagar's advocacies of sanctions against countries that falsely convict foreigners, capital punishment/life without parole for kidnappers, and increased funding for law enforcement make this CD an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.
Very Patriotic among other thingsOctober 30, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Most Likely Sammy's Best album ever. But lets skip the typical Blah Blah Blah. there is a Song "VOA" which is the name of the album. "VOA" Is the abbreviated version of "Voice OF America". This is a pumped up rocker with lots of attitude. The only drawback is that the song is over 10 years old and I think Most radio stations forgot how good it is. IF they play it once, They will play it all day long.
